Residents Want Tourism Industry to Protect Open Land
According to an Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research survey of Montana residents, these should be the top four priorities for the Montana tourism industry: Hire locals, maintain Montana's character, preserve open space and prevent over development.

Tourism Research Highlights Travelers for Open Land
At the Montana Association of Planners conference yesterday Norma Nickerson of the Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research gave a presentation about the ITRR's research and findings. She gave a nice plug for Travelers for Open Land and said the program's an excellent complement to the state's tourism promotion efforts.

Open Land and Antelope
Drove from Whitehall to Malta last week and from Big Timber to Malta the landscape was amazingly lush green with pronghorn antelope everywhere. Great sight to see.

Flathead Land Trust Turns 25
Great article in the Kalispell Daily Inter Lake salutes the work and accomplishments of Flathead Land Trust as FLT celebrates its 25th anniversary. Flathead Land Trust received a Travelers for Open Land grant in 2010 for a project to protect important lands along the mainstem of the Flathead River. Five Valleys Land Trust Finalizes Peterson Ranch Easement
Congratulations to Sue and Randy Peterson and Five Valleys Land Trust for finalizing the conservation easement on the Peterson ranch near Drummond. The property has conservation, agricultural and historic importance, and the access trail is a very nice touch. Five Valleys Land Trust received a 2009 Travelers for Open Land grant.
